Force Unleashed unleashing more DLC, Sith Edition for PC, PS3, 360

[UPDATE] LucasArts announces Luke Skywalker level coming to PSN, XBL this fall; retail edition will box up all previous downloadable content, exclusive add-on; game coming to Windows and Mac for first time.

Though not wholeheartedly embraced by critics, Star Wars: The Force Unleashed has proved a massive hit for LucasArts, now selling more than 6 million copies worldwide since its September 2008 release. Today at Comic-Con 2009 in San Diego, the company announced it is readying a downloadable expansion for the game, as well as a new retail configuration.

Due out this fall on Xbox Live and the PlayStation Network, the new Tatooine Downloadable Content will take place in the titular planet--but will offer a storyline not seen in any prior films or games. A sort of alternate history inside the Star Wars universe, the "Infinities" storyline will see players resume the mantle of Darth Vader's Secret Apprentice.

[WARNING: SPOILERS AHEAD!]

The DLC will begin after one of the game's numerous endings when the player kills Vader and becomes Emperor Palpatine's assistant and a Sith Lord. The malevolent galactic dictator then dispatches players to Tatooine, where they will try to track down and kill the Jedi Knight Obi-Wan Kenobi. Along the way, players will encounter Jabba the Hutt's palace and bump into the bounty hunter Boba Fett--who, judging by the screenshots, isn't very welcoming.

As it turns out, Tatooine Downloadable Content will be only the first part of the Infinities storyline. The second will see the players travel to Hoth and do battle with Luke Skywalker and wipe the last traces of the Rebellion from the galaxy. That add-on will be available only as part of a new boxed retail product. Available only for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, Star Wars The Force Unleashed: Ultimate Sith Edition will include the original game, the Coruscant and Tatooine missions, and the Hoth level. It will be available this fall at an as-yet-unannounced price. Given its best-seller status, the Force Unleashed is currently available for $29.99 at retailers such as Best Buy solo.

[UPDATE] At its Comic-Con press event, LucasArts also announced Star Wars The Force Unleashed: Ultimate Sith Edition for the PC and Mac, bringing the game to both platforms for the first time. It is expected alongside its console brethren this holiday season.

To all members complaining about dlc, realize that it could of been a whole lot worse. Other games had dlc's priced at $20(or 1600M$ points) each, and came out with up to 4 dlc maps or levels. two examples gears of war 2 and fallout 3. 4 mappacks for gears2 paying a total of $80, $20 more than the price of the game. 4 dlc levels for fallout 3. if you guys are gonna complain everytime someone comes out with dlc, then you should put the controllers down and just wail before buying the first time release. wait for the game of the year edition or something and get all your mappacks included.

So the "update" is a little confusing b/c as of 12/14/09, at least as far as I know, the Hoth level is NOT on XBL......anyone know any differently on this?

    Thx

also in regards to the end of your comment, what do you think they based the Rancor in EP 6 off of? LOL!

i stopped understanding why ppl showered lucas with money in the 80's. and episodes I thru III were atrocious. it should be obvious to everyone because he hasn't released a direct to game version of them. a first for lucas. im proud to say i just picked up the "old" version for $11 and wont be getting any dlc. and after popping it in i cant understand what justifies it getting a special new release. lucas mustve come out from behind his rock for his periodic feasting upon the carcass that is his fanbase.

Lucasarts have been corrupted by the darkside for not making the Hoth mission a DLC.

I LOVE SW as a whole the movies and all bc I believe it tells a story worth telling and is also a warning against what anger, fear, etc. can do in someone's life but what I HATE is LucasArts' quest for mo' money, mo' money and the fact that I dropped $59.99 for the title then both DLC's at about $20 and there's Hoth yet to go and NOW the Ultimate Sith edition has a shelf price of $36.99 is absolute BS!!!!!!!!! If LucasArts "cares" about their fanbase they will release the Hoth content on XBL FREE!!!!!!! But I know they won't.........

I am from Greece and they still haven't made available the Jedi level but they just added Tatooine. I am not going to buy them unless they put them all in one pack.I have played this game on ps2 and i have to say its not the same game. Different missions (some) different powers.. Its a pity because i m a fun. They only want to take our money.

an awsome but short game. i got 1000GS and returned it in a week after it came out. (made $5 profit from the trade in...) if this sith addition is priced appropriately il give it strong consideration

I think this game is going to overprice alot of things including this I mean £7.99 for the tatooine mission? then another £7.99 for Coruscant and (I assume) another £7.99 for a mission on Hoth? I mean thats almost as much as a new game will cost they will need a hell of a lot of stuff to be put into the hoth mission because from what Ive heard Coruscant and tatooine take about 3 hours to complete at max! Lucasarts please stop milking this game for every penny you are just making me hate probably one of the coolest of the Star wars games. PS (Does it say that the Hoth mission will only be available by actually buying the Sith edition? If so that means I would need to buy the game again for the DLC!) Lucasarts stop annoying us please I love SW there are few people who love it more than me I spend 20 minutes on SWTOR website each day ffs! Please cut us some slack Lucasarts

I dunno. I was somewhat underwhelmed. I enjoyed the game, but felt the sense of enormous areas was lacking. the ones that were just didn't feel big. They felt...compartmentalized. it didn't feel like a true SW game. I hate to say it, but the Jedi Knight games, as old as they are, had it right for the technology of the time. I will give the Jedi Temple level credit though. The landing platform had the right feeling of scale. Story was great though.

the 800msp and a 1gb for the really short 15 minutes of gameplay for the tatooine mission was not worth the money

Is it just me who feel a little cheated? this game was so short (awesome, but short) and now they are selling extra missions for 5 time the prices it's worth. they should simply make all the new missions available for us who have bought the game, so that it would be worth the money we have spend
