    Hasbro: G.I. Joe - The Hasbro design and marketing teams - Aaron Archer and Michelino Paolino (Hasbro Design), and Jeff Labovitz (Hasbro Marketing), discuss the upcoming release of the G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra movie, the new toy line hitting shelves, the new video game, and much more! This panel will include special guests that you won't want to miss, plus Q&A time.

    Dante's Inferno - Jonathan Knight (executive producer, EA), Ash Huang (art director), Brandon Auman (writer), Christos Gage (writer), and Diego Latorre (artist) talk about the adaptation of this literary classic into pop culture. They will discuss how they translated the various aspects of The Divine Comedy into a video game, an animated feature, and a comic series, where they were faithful and where they invented, and how each of the mediums differs. Also get a peek at EA's game in development, and also watch the world premiere trailer for the animated feature Dante's Inferno coproduced by EA and Starz Media.

  • Peter Jackson Halo game scrapped

    Last week, Microsoft announced a new anime compilation based on its popular sci-fi series Halo. Unfortunately, the weekend also brought news that one of the most anticipated cross-media projects based on the multiplatinum series will never see the light of day. Speaking with game blog Joystiq, Lord of the Rings director Peter Jackson said his long-awaited mystery Halo project, rumored to be called Halo Chronicles, fell apart nearly three years ago.



    "That Halo project is no longer happening; it sort of collapsed when the movie didn't end up happening," said the filmmaker, apparently referring to the film's indefinite suspension in October 2006.

    Though Microsoft had not commented on the project's cancellation as of press time, Jackson outlined the reasons behind the project's collapse. "Microsoft has a whole strategy with the Halo property, and when the rights expired with the two studios, that sort of ended my involvement with the project. That fell apart because of internal politics at Fox and Universal. It had nothing to do with the budget or anything else. In fact, we hadn't even been greenlit at all at that point."

    [UPDATE] Speaking to the Los Angeles Times yesterday, Jackson's manager Ken Kamins said while Halo Chronicles essentially imploded in 2006, the final plug wasn't pulled until just this past January as part of Microsoft's company-wide downsizing. The still-officially-unacknowledged Halo massively multiplayer game was also an apparent casualty of the cuts--as was its rumored developer, Ensemble Studios.

  • Ratchet and Clank Future: A Crack in Time Panel Recap

    Who Was There: The panel consisted of equal parts Insomniac staffers and voice talent. From the development team there was creative director Brian Allgeier, project director Bryan Bernal, and writer T.J. Fixman. Representing the game's voice actors were James Arnold Taylor (Ratchet), Armin Shimerman (Nefarious), and Joey D'Auria (General Azimuth). Moderating the panel was GameSpot editor-in-chief Ricardo Torres.

From Ubisoft was Splinter Cell: Conviction producer Alex Parizeau, Left 4 Dead 2 writer Chet Faliszek of Valve, Mass Effect 2 project director Casey Hudson of BioWare, Bungie design director Paul Bertone (currently overseeing Halo 3: ODST), and Epic design director Cliff Bleszinski (most recently of Gears of War 2).

    Who Was There: On hand from Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 developer Vicarious Visions were studio head Guha Bala, lead writer Evan Skolnick, and game director Dan Tanguay. From Marvel there was director of games TQ Jefferson, and none other than Stan Lee. MUA2 voice actors Armin Shimerman (Green Goblin) and Fred Tatasciore (Hulk and Thing) were also there.
